Railway tie rods, traction rods and trailing arms are mechanical links used to transmit longitudinal forces between the bogie and the vehicle body or between connected bogie components. They help transfer traction and braking loads while accommodating the relative movement required by the vehicle design.
These assemblies typically combine a metal link with rubber-metal bushings fitted into the rod ends. The elastic joints help reduce the transmission of vibration and structure-borne noise. Depending on the application and engineering requirements, the link body may be manufactured from cast or nodular cast iron, forged steel or other specified steel grades.
Typical applications: Railway bogies, light rail vehicles, commuter and passenger trains. Dimensions, materials and stiffness characteristics are selected according to the relevant technical drawing and operating requirements.
